It's a well-known fact that pregnant women get cravings: pickles, ice cream, olives, everything covered in mustard, even dirt at times. But roadkill is a new one. Since becoming pregnant, British artist and taxidermist, Alison Brierley, has developed a taste for the roadside carcasses she once only used as materials for her art.
"Usually I eat really healthily but now I' m pregnant I get strong cravings for roadkill," Brierly told the Daily Mail. "It's more gamey than other meat and I love the taste." The expectant mother hypothesizes that it's because her body craves the iron from the meat. She doesn't mind the craving because she doesn't have to feel guilty about eating all of the extra meat. "I know it's had a completely free range and natural life," Brierly said.
"The first time I picked something up was when I drove past a perfectly good pheasant," Brierly recounted. "I took it home and marinated it in olive oil for four days before I made a kind of Kentucky-fried pheasant dish." But Brierly, who is due to have a baby boy in February, does not spend her days trolling the highways for pheasants, hares, pigeons, rabbits, owls, or partridges (her typical choice meats). She mostly gets her "groceries" by way of tip offs from friends, whom she rewards with dinner parties featuring a roadkill roast.
CAN THIS WOMAN BE SERIOUS? WOULD YOU EAT SOMETHING THAT YOU FOUND DEAD ON THE ROAD?
Please answer in complete sentences and don't forget spell check!
No. I would not eat anything on the ground dead. That is nasty.
ReplyDeleteOMG! Absolutely not! That is not something I would crave. I dont what anybody says about pregnant women and their cravings. That is beyond disgusting.
ReplyDeleteNo, because it's not safe at all. But then again my uncle isfrom Alabama and he'll eat anything he kills. He also stays in the hospital soooo.....
ReplyDeleteI would never do that but she probably eats that because that's how pregnant woman get hungry for random things because the baby is like a parasite so she has to eat enough to feed herself and the baby. That's probably not good for the baby or the mother and the baby might even have problems mentally or physically. The baby might even have cravings for what his mom had cravings for which is dead animals on the road.,
ReplyDeleteI agree with LaRonda
